While the Friesche Vlag brand is predominantly associated with dairy products and is currently owned by the global dairy cooperative Royal FrieslandCampina, the 'Keukenstroop' product line is produced and distributed under license by the Cosun Beet Company (formerly Suiker Unie). This arrangement stems from the specialized nature of sugar and syrup production, which falls under the expertise of Cosun, a major Dutch agricultural cooperative owned by thousands of sugar beet farmers.

The product is manufactured in the Netherlands using local sugar beets. Despite the dairy-heavy portfolio of the parent brand, this specific syrup remains a staple in Dutch pantries, maintaining its classic red and blue packaging featuring the provincial flag of Friesland.
