Manner is an iconic Austrian confectionery brand, most famous for its 'Neapolitan' wafers. Founded in 1890 by Josef Manner I in Vienna, the brand has maintained its identity for over a century, characterized by its signature pink packaging and the depiction of St. Stephen's Cathedral in its logo.
The product is manufactured exclusively in Austria at two primary locations: the original factory in Vienna’s 17th district and a second facility in Wolkersdorf, Lower Austria. Manner is notable for its 'bean-to-bar' production process, roasting its own cocoa beans in-house to ensure quality control across its wafer and chocolate range.
Historically and into 2026, Josef Manner & Comp. AG remains a rare example of a major European confectionery company that is still predominantly family-owned. While the German candy group Katjes International holds a minority stake (approximately 5.7%), the ultimate ownership and control reside with the Manner family in Austria.
