SÜDKURIER regional newspaper

SÜDKURIER is a prominent German regional daily newspaper founded on September 8, 1945, in Konstanz. Originally established by Johannes Weyl shortly after World War II, it was created to serve the regions of Lake Constance (Bodensee), the High Rhine, and the Black Forest. The publication initially appeared twice a week but eventually evolved into a daily regional paper known for its local journalism and Berliner format.

Over the decades, the ownership of the newspaper transitioned from its founding group to major media conglomerates. In 1980, the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group acquired a stake, eventually becoming the full owner. However, in late 2013, the brand was fully acquired by Mediengruppe Pressedruck, a major media group based in Augsburg. As of 2026, the SÜDKURIER remains a core asset of Mediengruppe Pressedruck, continuing its tradition of regional reporting while expanding into digital services and logistics. The newspaper is physically printed in Germany, utilizing specialized printing facilities in the Konstanz region.
