Ruffino Wine

Ruffino is a world-renowned Italian winery with a history stretching back to 1877. Founded by cousins Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino in the Tuscan town of Pontassieve, the brand was established with the vision of creating high-quality wines intended for export beyond local borders. It became iconic for its Chianti, famously distributed in straw-covered 'fiasco' bottles, and was among the first European wine brands to gain a major foothold in the United States market.

Over the decades, ownership shifted from the founding Ruffino family to the Folonari family in 1913, who were instrumental in modernizing the brand and establishing its six prestigious estates across Tuscany and the Veneto. In 2004, the American beverage giant Constellation Brands acquired a minority stake in the company, eventually moving to full 100% ownership in 2011.

Today, Ruffino operates as a premium subsidiary of Constellation Brands. While its corporate headquarters are located in the United States, the production of the wine remains deeply rooted in its Italian heritage. The manufacturing process, from viticulture to bottling, continues to take place at its historic estates in Italy, including locations in Chianti Classico, Montalcino, and the Bolgheri region.
