Boss Coffee, often recognized by its 'Boss Black' variety, is a premier brand of canned and bottled coffee beverages. Launched in 1992, it quickly became a staple of Japanese culture, famously promoted by actor Tommy Lee Jones. The product is renowned for its 'flash-brew' method, where coffee is brewed hot to extract maximum flavor and then rapidly chilled to lock it in.
The brand is owned by Suntory, a Japanese multinational brewing and distilling company group. While originally a phenomenon exclusive to Japan, Suntory expanded the Boss brand to international markets including Australia, New Zealand, and the United States starting in 2019. Most products found globally are still manufactured in Japan to maintain the authentic taste and quality associated with the brand's heritage.
