Cadbury Fingers are a quintessentially British chocolate biscuit consisting of a rod-shaped shortcake center coated in smooth milk chocolate. While a similar chocolate-dipped biscuit was first introduced by Cadbury in 1897 as part of a larger assortment, the modern stand-alone brand as it is known today was officially launched in 1951.
Historically, the production of Cadbury Fingers has been unique; for several decades, they were manufactured under license by Burton’s Biscuit Company rather than directly by Cadbury. In 2016, Mondelēz International, the ultimate owner of the Cadbury brand, repurchased the global license for Cadbury-branded biscuits from Burton’s for an estimated £200 million. Despite this change in ownership of the rights, the biscuits continue to be produced primarily in the United Kingdom, often through co-manufacturing agreements at specialized biscuit facilities.
Today, the brand is a global success, sold across Europe, North America, and Asia. It remains under the stewardship of Mondelēz International, which acquired the Cadbury parent company in 2010. The product line has expanded to include various flavors such as dark chocolate, white chocolate, and salted caramel, maintaining its status as a staple in the international snack market.
