Jarritos is an iconic Mexican brand of soft drinks founded in 1950 by Don Francisco "El Güero" Hill in Mexico City. The brand began with a coffee-flavored drink, but quickly pivoted to fruit-based flavors, starting with Tamarind. The name "Jarritos" translates to "little jugs" in Spanish, paying homage to the traditional Mexican clay pots used to keep drinks cool and fresh, which is reflected in the brand's distinctive logo.
All Jarritos sodas are produced in Mexico, maintaining their commitment to authenticity by using real cane sugar and natural fruit extracts sourced from various Mexican regions, such as mandarins from the Yucatán. Today, the brand is a global phenomenon available in over 40 countries, widely recognized for its vibrant glass bottles and unique flavors like Mandarin, Lime, and Pineapple.
Since 2011, the brand has been under the ultimate ownership of Novamex, a privately held beverage conglomerate headquartered in El Paso, Texas. Novamex was formed through a merger involving the founding Hill family's interests and the Fernández family, who have decades of experience in the bottling industry. The brand remains family-stewardship-focused, resisting acquisition by global soda giants.
