Multicentrum, known as Centrum in many other global markets, is a world-renowned brand of multivitamin supplements. The brand's origins trace back to the 1950s in the United States, where Dr. Leon Ellenbogen and his team at Lederle Laboratories conducted research on the health benefits of therapeutic vitamins. The commercial multivitamin brand was officially launched in 1978.
Over the decades, the brand has been owned by several major pharmaceutical giants, including Wyeth and Pfizer. In 2019, Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) merged their consumer healthcare businesses into a joint venture. This venture eventually became an independent, publicly traded company named Haleon in July 2022. Today, Haleon is the ultimate owner of Multicentrum. While the brand is American by origin, it is manufactured in several global facilities to serve European markets, with significant production for the Mediterranean region often centered in Italy.
