Kandit confectionery

Kandit is a historic Croatian confectionery brand that has been a staple of the regional sweets market for over a century. Founded in 1920 in Osijek, Croatia, as the 'First Osijek candy factory Kaiser and Stark,' the company initially built its reputation by acquiring a license to produce chocolate from the renowned Viennese factory Pischinger. Over the decades, it evolved through various industrial restructurings, including becoming part of the Osijek sugar refinery during the mid-20th century. Today, Kandit operates from a highly modern production facility in Nemetin, near Osijek, which was commissioned in 2014 to ensure state-of-the-art manufacturing of its chocolate bars, jelly candies, and bonbons.

In 2011, Kandit was acquired by the Mepas Group, a major business conglomerate based in Bosnia and Herzegovina owned by entrepreneur Mirko Grbešić. Under the umbrella of Mepas, Kandit has undergone significant technological modernization and brand revitalization. The company remains one of the leading confectionery producers in Croatia, with a substantial portion of its production exported worldwide. As of 2026, it continues to operate as a key subsidiary of the Mepas Group, often collaborating with sister company Saponia within the same corporate structure.
