Koopmans is one of the most iconic and long-standing brands in the Netherlands, specializing in flour and baking mixes. The brand's history dates back to 1846 when Uilke Klazes Koopmans established a traditional horse mill in the Frisian village of Holwerd. Over the decades, the family business expanded into industrial steam-powered milling and became a staple of Dutch kitchens, eventually receiving the 'Royal' predicate in 1976.

In the year 2000, the Koopmans family decided to split the business. The consumer products division, which includes the famous baking mixes like the 'Kwarkcake' seen in the image, was sold to the German multinational Dr. Oetker. Meanwhile, the original milling and industrial ingredients division remained in family hands as Royal Koopmans (Koninklijke Koopmans).

Today, Koopmans baking products are produced and marketed by Dr. Oetker Nederland B.V. while maintaining their traditional Dutch branding. The products are primarily manufactured in the Netherlands, often utilizing ingredients sourced from the original Koopmans mills in Leeuwarden, ensuring the brand retains its local heritage and quality standards.
