Ponti Aceto Balsamico di Modena is an iconic Italian condiment with a heritage dating back over two centuries. The brand's history began in 1787 when Giovanni Battista del Ponte started selling vinegar in Sizzano, Italy. Over nine generations, the Ponti family has transformed a small artisanal business into a global leader in the vinegar and preserved vegetable industry. This specific product is a 'Balsamic Vinegar of Modena P.G.I.' (Protected Geographical Indication), which mandates that it must be produced according to strict traditional standards within the provinces of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
Manufacturing takes place primarily in Ponti's specialized facility in Vignola, located at the foot of the Modena hills. This plant is dedicated to the slow maturation of balsamic vinegar in wooden casks made of oak, chestnut, and cherry. The brand remains entirely family-owned and operated, maintaining its independence even as many other Italian food brands have been acquired by large multinational conglomerates. In recent years, Ponti has further solidified its commitment to sustainability by becoming a certified B Corp and a Benefit Company in Italy.
