Den Gamle Fabrik (The Old Factory) is a prestigious Danish brand founded in 1834. It is widely recognized for its traditional method of producing fruit preserve by heating the fruit in open kettles, a process that preserves the natural flavor and texture of the fruit better than industrial vacuum methods.
While originating as a small cellar production in Copenhagen, the brand has grown to become a staple of Scandinavian breakfast tables. Today, the brand is owned by the Norwegian industrial conglomerate Orkla through its subsidiary Orkla Foods Danmark. Production remains primarily rooted in Denmark, maintaining the brand's heritage of high-quality, artisanal-style fruit spreads.
