Chivers is a historic brand with deep roots in British confectionery and preserve-making, originally founded by the Chivers family in 1873 in Histon, near Cambridge, England. The family initially started as fruit farmers before moving into jam and marmalade production to utilize their bumper harvests. By the early 20th century, Chivers had become one of Britain's leading manufacturers, known for its innovation in canning and vertical integration.

Over the decades, the brand's ownership transitioned through several major corporations, including Schweppes, Cadbury Schweppes, and Premier Foods. In 2011, the Chivers brand was acquired by the Boyne Valley Group, an Irish family-owned company. Today, while the original Histon site remains a significant hub for other brands, Chivers products are primarily manufactured in Ireland, specifically in Drogheda, County Louth, where the Boyne Valley Group is headquartered. The brand continues to be celebrated for its traditional recipes and long-standing heritage in the fine foods market.
