Originally marketed as "Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon-Lime Soda," the name was simplified to 7UP in 1936. The brand has a history defined by its "Uncola" marketing campaign, positioning it as a crisp, caffeine-free alternative to colas.

In 1986, the ownership of 7UP was divided geographically following its sale by Philip Morris. Today, the brand operates under a unique split ownership model: Keurig Dr Pepper owns and produces the brand in the United States, while PepsiCo owns the brand rights and manages distribution for all international markets, including Europe and Asia.

Due to this global footprint, 7UP is manufactured in numerous locations worldwide through a network of regional bottling partners and distribution subsidiaries.
