Lancia Delta

The Lancia Delta is a legendary compact car originally launched in 1979 by the Italian manufacturer Lancia. Known for its remarkable success in the World Rally Championship during the 1980s and early 1990s, the Delta became a symbol of Italian performance and engineering innovation. Historically, the vehicle was primarily manufactured at the Chivasso plant in Piedmont, Italy, and later by Maggiora in the early 1990s. After a hiatus and a third-generation run ending in 2014, the Delta is part of a significant brand 'renaissance' under its current owner.

Lancia was founded in 1906 in Turin by Vincenzo Lancia and Claudio Fogolin. In 1969, the company became part of Fiat, which later evolved into Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). Following the 2021 merger between FCA and Groupe PSA, Lancia became a premium brand within the Stellantis portfolio. As of 2026, Stellantis is implementing a ten-year strategic plan that repositioned Lancia as a high-end electric brand. A new, fully electric generation of the Lancia Delta is scheduled to return to production by 2028, with the brand's new flagship models expected to be produced in Italian facilities such as the Melfi plant.
