Odol-med3 is a well-established brand in the oral hygiene market, originally stemming from the historic German brand Odol, which was founded in 1892 by the entrepreneur Karl August Lingner in Dresden. The specific toothpaste line, Odol-med3, was introduced in Germany in 1989 and became famous for its characteristic three-colored stripes, representing protection against cavities, plaque, and gum disease.
Historically, the brand was a part of Lingner & Fischer and later SmithKline Beecham, eventually coming under the stewardship of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). In July 2022, GSK spun off its consumer healthcare division into a new independent company called Haleon. As of 2026, Odol-med3 remains a key title in Haleon's expansive global oral health portfolio.
While the brand has deep German roots and was historically manufactured in plants like the one in Herrenberg, recent supply chain shifts led by the parent company have seen toothpaste production increasingly centralized in specialized facilities, such as the one in Levice, Slovakia, which serves many European markets including Germany and Spain.
