Kleenex is one of the most iconic brands in the personal hygiene sector, originally introduced in 1924 by the Kimberly-Clark Corporation. Initially marketed as a disposable cold cream remover, its use shifted in the 1930s to the disposable handkerchief we recognize today. The brand's success was so immense that the name 'Kleenex' became a genericized trademark in many parts of the world, often used to refer to any brand of facial tissue.

Historically owned by the American multinational Kimberly-Clark, the brand's international operations are undergoing a significant transition as of 2026. A $3.4 billion joint venture between Kimberly-Clark and the Brazilian pulp producer Suzano has been formed to manage tissue assets outside North America. This new entity, headquartered in the Netherlands, oversees manufacturing across dozens of countries. While this specific packaging indicates production in Spain, Kleenex is manufactured globally in numerous facilities to serve regional markets.
