Salling Øko Gurkemeje is a premium organic turmeric powder belonging to the private label range of the Salling Group, Denmark's largest retailer. The Salling brand was introduced in 2020 as a replacement for several older private labels across the group's chains, including Bilka and Føtex, with the aim of consolidating thousands of products under a single identity focused on quality and value.

The brand's roots go back to 1906 when Ferdinand Salling opened a draper's shop in Aarhus. Today, the brand is 100% owned by the Salling Foundations (Købmand Herman Sallings Fond and Købmand Ferdinand Sallings Memorial Fond), ensuring that profits are reinvested into the company or donated to cultural and social causes. While the turmeric (Curcuma longa) itself is typically sourced from major organic spice producers in countries like India, the finished product is packaged and distributed primarily for the Danish and North European markets under the supervision of the Salling Group.
