Turkish Angora cat

The Turkish Angora is an ancient, natural breed of domestic cat that originated in central Turkey, specifically the Ankara region. Renowned for its elegant, slender build and shimmering, silky coat, it is often associated with the solid white coloration, though the breed occurs in many different colors and patterns. Historically, they were highly prized by European royalty and have been documented in historical records since at least the 16th century.

Today, Turkish Angoras are bred globally by registered breeders and kept as pets in homes around the world. As a biological 'product' of natural evolution and selective breeding, they are not 'manufactured' but are raised in numerous countries including Turkey, the United States, and throughout Europe. They are recognized by major feline registries such as the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) and the International Cat Association (TICA), which maintain the breed standards and pedigree records.
