Julius Meinl is an iconic Austrian coffee brand that has served as a global ambassador for Viennese coffee house culture since its founding in 1862. The company was established by Julius Meinl I in Vienna, where he revolutionized the industry by developing a process for industrial coffee roasting, sparing consumers the need to roast green beans at home. This innovation laid the groundwork for what would become one of Europe's most prestigious gourmet brands.

Today, the brand remains a family-owned enterprise, managed by the fifth and sixth generations of the Meinl family. While it was once a major regional grocery retailer, the company pivoted in the late 1990s to focus exclusively on its premium coffee and tea roots. Manufacturing is centered in its historical home of Vienna, Austria, and in Vicenza, Italy, where specialized roasting plants produce the blends distributed to more than 70 countries worldwide. The brand is instantly recognizable by its 'Moor's head' logo, which was modernized in 2004 by Italian designer Matteo Thun to reflect a contemporary identity while honoring its 19th-century origins.
