Pocophone, more commonly known today as POCO, is a consumer electronics brand that originated as a specialized sub-brand under the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi. Launched in 2018 with the release of the Pocophone F1, the brand was designed to offer flagship-level performance at mid-range price points, specifically targeting tech enthusiasts and gamers. Although it was spun off as an 'independent' brand in 2020 to allow for more flexible marketing and product strategies, it remains a subsidiary of the Xiaomi Corporation.
Manufacturing for POCO devices primarily takes place in China and India. In India, the brand utilizes Xiaomi's local manufacturing infrastructure to assemble devices, often through partners like Foxconn, to qualify for 'Make in India' initiatives. While it operates with its own sales and marketing teams, POCO continues to share Xiaomi's research, development, and supply chain resources, often rebranding existing Redmi models for international markets.
