Fatboy is an iconic Dutch design brand that gained worldwide fame with the introduction of the 'Original' beanbag in 2002. Founded by Alex Bergman in the Netherlands, the brand's name was inspired by the artist Fatboy Slim. Over the years, the product range has expanded significantly from beanbags to include innovative lighting (such as the Edison series), outdoor furniture, hammocks, and inflatable loungers like the Lamzac.

While Fatboy's design and creative headquarters remain in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, its manufacturing is distributed globally. For instance, products destined for the North American market are often manufactured or assembled in Canada to ensure local quality standards and efficient distribution. In 2021, the brand was acquired by the Italian furniture giant Calligaris Group, which is backed by the private equity firm Alpha. This acquisition integrated Fatboy into a larger international furniture portfolio while maintaining its distinct, playful Dutch identity.
