DPD (Dynamic Parcel Distribution) is one of Europe's leading international parcel delivery networks. Originally founded in 1976 in Germany as 'Deutscher Paket Dienst' by a consortium of 18 leading German freight forwarders, the brand has grown into a global logistics powerhouse. In 2001, the French postal service, La Poste, through its subsidiary GeoPost, acquired a majority stake in DPD. Over the subsequent years, La Poste consolidated its ownership by acquiring remaining shares from the founding German partners. In 2023, the holding group DPDgroup was rebranded as Geopost to unify its international identity, although the DPD brand remains the primary consumer-facing name for its road-based courier services across Europe and beyond.

Today, DPD operates through a network of local subsidiaries and franchise partners in over 230 countries. The ultimate ownership lies with La Poste Groupe, which is a French state-owned public limited company. The service relies on a vast infrastructure of over 500 depots and a massive fleet of vehicles to deliver millions of parcels daily, making it a critical player in the global e-commerce supply chain.
