Alpen is a pioneering brand of Swiss-style muesli that was originally introduced to the United Kingdom in 1971. The brand's creation was inspired by a Weetabix executive's holiday in Switzerland, where he discovered the local breakfast of oats, nuts, and fruit. Recognizing its potential for the British market, the recipe was refined and launched as the UK's first mass-market muesli. Over the decades, Alpen has grown into a major international name, known for its focus on natural ingredients and whole grains.

Today, Alpen is part of the Weetabix Food Company portfolio. Manufacturing takes place in several locations to serve global markets: the primary production hub remains in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, England, while specialized production facilities exist in Canada for the North American market and South Africa for the African region. In 2017, the brand's ownership transitioned to the American consumer goods giant Post Holdings, Inc., which continues to manage Alpen as one of its leading international cereal brands.
