Originally developed by the Slovenian retailer Mercator as part of its internal brand portfolio, Hrusty has become a significant player in the regional snack market. The manufacturing of Hrusty products is often handled by local and regional partners, such as Intersnack Adria or Fun&Fit, ensuring that the products are tailored to local tastes while maintaining cost-effectiveness for the retail groups.

The brand's ownership has evolved alongside the corporate restructuring of its parent companies. Currently, Hrusty is under the umbrella of Fortenova Group, the successor to the Agrokor conglomerate, which acquired Mercator and merged its retail operations with Konzum.
