Stacy's Pita Chips

Stacy’s Pita Chips began as a humble food cart venture in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1996. Founders Stacy Madison and Mark Andrus originally served pita sandwiches and began baking leftover pita bread into seasoned chips to give to customers waiting in line. The snack was so well-received that they pivoted their business model to focus exclusively on chip production, officially incorporating the Stacy's Pita Chip Company in 1997.

As the brand's popularity surged nationwide, it caught the attention of major food conglomerates. In 2006, the company was acquired by PepsiCo and integrated into its Frito-Lay North America division. This acquisition allowed the brand to scale significantly, leveraging PepsiCo's massive distribution network while maintaining its headquarters in Randolph, Massachusetts.

Today, Stacy's Pita Chips are manufactured primarily in the United States. The brand remains a cornerstone of the Frito-Lay portfolio, continuing to emphasize its heritage as a woman-founded company through initiatives like the Stacy’s Rise Project, which supports female entrepreneurs. Ownership remains with PepsiCo, one of the world's largest food and beverage corporations headquartered in Purchase, New York.
