Grether's Pastilles represent a unique blend of British heritage and Swiss craftsmanship. The brand's origins date back to 1850 in London, where they were first formulated by the family business Allen & Hanbury Ltd. under the name "Allenburys Pastilles." These glycerin-based lozenges gained popularity across Europe for their soothing properties, particularly among singers and performers.

In 1910, the product was introduced to the Swiss market, and by 1930, the Basel-based company Doetsch Grether AG secured its distribution rights. The brand underwent a significant transition in 1974 when Doetsch Grether AG fully acquired the brand, renamed it "Grether's," and moved all production to Switzerland. Today, the pastilles are still produced in Altnau, Switzerland, following the original 1850 recipe, which involves a meticulous three-month maturation process to achieve their signature texture and flavor.
