Founded in 1954 in Esbjerg, Denmark, by two carpenters who discovered a unique material made from sawdust and glue, the company eventually established its primary production facility in Ry, Denmark. To this day, Pressalit remains deeply rooted in its Danish heritage, maintaining its headquarters and core manufacturing operations in Ry.

Ownership of the brand has remained within the family for decades. It is currently a private, family-owned company led by the Boyter family. Kim and Dan Boyter, sons of the influential Mogens Boyter, continue to represent the active ownership of the group. The brand is celebrated for its commitment to Scandinavian design, durability, and innovation, particularly in the field of accessible and disability-friendly bathroom solutions.
