Fry's Chocolate

Fry's Chocolate, famous for creating the world's first solid chocolate bar in 1847 and the iconic Turkish Delight in 1914, is a brand steeped in British confectionery history. Founded by Joseph Fry in Bristol, England, in the 18th century, the company was a pioneer in industrializing chocolate production. For much of its history, it was one of the 'Big Three' British chocolate makers alongside Cadbury and Rowntree’s.

In 1919, J. S. Fry & Sons merged with Cadbury to form a joint entity, and over the decades, the Fry's brand became a specialized line within the Cadbury portfolio. Following the acquisition of Cadbury by Kraft Foods (now Mondelēz International) in 2010, the historic Somerdale factory in Keynsham, which had been the brand's primary production hub for nearly 90 years, was closed in 2011. Today, manufacturing for Fry's products is primarily conducted in Mondelēz-owned facilities across Europe, including Poland and other locations, to serve its core markets in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
