The Apple Siri Remote (1st generation), also known as the Apple TV Remote in certain regions, was originally released in 2015 alongside the fourth-generation Apple TV. Designed by Apple Inc. in California, this iconic but polarizing device features a glass multi-touch surface for navigation and a dedicated Siri button for voice commands. Unlike its successors, the first-generation model is recognizable by its slim, black aluminum profile and the lack of a white ring around the menu button (which was added in a 2017 revision).
Manufacturing of the Siri Remote is primarily handled through contract manufacturers like Foxconn and Pegatron at their facilities in China. As of 2026, the brand remains under the ultimate ownership of Apple Inc., a global technology powerhouse headquartered in Cupertino, California. While newer aluminum Siri Remotes have since superseded this model in retail lineups, Apple continues to provide software support and ecosystem integration for existing units through its global network of subsidiaries and authorized service providers.
