Savage Arms is a historic American firearms manufacturer founded in 1894 by Arthur Savage in Utica, New York. The brand gained early fame for its innovative Model 99 lever-action rifle and has since become one of the most recognized names in the sporting and hunting industries. For over a century, Savage has been at the forefront of firearm technology, introducing features like the AccuTrigger and the rotary magazine.
Historically, the brand has changed hands several times. It was acquired by Vista Outdoor (formerly ATK) in 2013, but in 2019, it was sold for $170 million to a private investor group led by the company's own management, Al Kasper. Today, Savage Arms operates as an independent private company headquartered in Westfield, Massachusetts. Production remains focused in the United States at its Westfield facility, with additional rimfire manufacturing operations located in Lakefield, Ontario, Canada.
