Ben's Original (formerly Uncle Ben's) rice

Ben's Original, historically known as Uncle Ben's, is a globally recognized brand of parboiled rice and related food products. The brand's history dates back to the early 20th century when British chemist Erich Huzenlaub and Francis Heron Rogers invented the 'Huzenlaub Process,' a parboiling technique that preserved more nutrients in rice and reduced cooking time. In 1942, Forrest Mars Sr. partnered with Huzenlaub to bring this technology to the United States, forming Converted Rice, Inc. in Houston, Texas.

The brand was officially launched as Uncle Ben's in 1943. In September 2020, parent company Mars, Incorporated announced that the brand would be renamed to Ben's Original and the former logo would be retired to address racial stereotypes and promote inclusion. Today, the brand remains one of the most prominent rice products worldwide.

Manufacturing of Ben's Original products takes place in multiple locations globally to serve local markets. Significant production facilities are located in Greenville, Mississippi (USA), and Bolton, Ontario (Canada). Other regional manufacturing sites exist in Europe and Australia to support international distribution.
