Karrimor is a historic British brand that became a cornerstone of the global mountaineering and outdoor industry. Founded in 1946 as the Karrimor Bag Company in Lancashire, England, the brand gained international acclaim for inventing the first lightweight, waterproof nylon fabric for rucksacks and providing equipment for some of the world's most famous Himalayan expeditions, including early summits of Mount Everest.

While the brand was originally synonymous with premium, high-performance technical gear manufactured in the United Kingdom, its trajectory changed following financial difficulties in the late 1990s. In 2004, the brand was acquired by the retail giant Sports Direct (now Frasers Group). Under this new ownership, Karrimor was repositioned as a budget-friendly outdoor and running brand, expanding its reach into mass-market retail.

Today, Karrimor products are manufactured in multiple countries, primarily within Asia (including China, Vietnam, and Indonesia), to support high-volume distribution. Although it no longer operates as an independent family-owned entity, it remains one of the most recognized names in the British outdoor sector under the umbrella of one of the UK's largest retail conglomerates.
