Albmerino is a sustainable textile brand deeply rooted in the Swabian Jura (Schwäbische Alb) region of Germany. Established in 2009, the brand was born from a collaborative project between the local sheep farm 'Schäferei Stotz' and regional manufacturers. The core philosophy of the brand is to maintain a completely regional production chain, ensuring that every step—from the grazing of the 4,000 merino sheep in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve to the final spinning and knitting—occurs within the Swabian Jura.
The brand is primarily managed through the family-owned company Flomax (Veronika & Hans-Peter Sailer OHG) and the renowned yarn producer Schoppel Wolle. Albmerino products are distinguished by their natural processing, often utilizing a patented 'Reggae' felting technology that creates voluminous, airy yarns without chemical superwash treatments. Ownership remains local, reflecting a commitment to traditional German textile craftsmanship and animal welfare.
