Cerveza Austral Calafate Ale is a premium craft beer produced by Cervecería Austral, a historic brewery located in Punta Arenas, Chile. Founded in 1896 by José Fischer, it is famously known as the southernmost brewery in the world. The brand is deeply rooted in the Chilean Patagonia, using pure regional waters and unique local ingredients like the Calafate berry, which gives this specific ale its distinctive dark amber color and fruity profile.
In 2000, Cervecería Austral was acquired by Compañía Cervecerías Unidas (CCU), one of the largest beverage companies in South America. CCU is a diversified beverage company with operations across several Latin American countries and is a key player in the regional beer, soda, and wine markets. While the brand is now part of a large corporate portfolio, production remains focused in its original Patagonian location to maintain its artisanal identity.
