French’s is an iconic North American brand with a legacy dating back to its debut at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. While historically famous for its yellow mustard, the brand has expanded significantly into the ketchup market. The brand's origin is rooted in Rochester, New York, where it was founded by the R.T. French Company.
Today, French’s is owned by the American flavor giant McCormick & Company, following a multibillion-dollar acquisition in 2017. Manufacturing is geographically strategic: while the mustard is primarily produced in the United States (specifically Springfield, Missouri), the ketchup sold in Canada is notably produced using 100% Canadian-grown tomatoes. McCormick operates a dedicated facility in London, Ontario, to process and bottle French's ketchup for the Canadian market, a move that solidified the brand's reputation for supporting local agriculture after major competitors shifted production abroad.
