Nostromo is an iconic Italian brand with a history dating back to 1951, when it was founded in Milan by Mario Pedol. Originally part of SAFICA S.p.A., it quickly became a household name in Italy, synonymous with quality canned tuna and seafood.

In 1993, the brand was acquired by the Spanish multinational Grupo Calvo (now rebranded as Nauterra). Today, while the brand remains deeply rooted in Italian culture and maintains its commercial headquarters in Modena, the majority of its manufacturing and processing takes place in Carballo, Spain, within Nauterra's modern facilities. Nostromo is unique among Italian players for utilizing its parent company's private fishing fleet, ensuring a vertically integrated supply chain. As of 2026, the brand continues to expand its presence in both the branded and private label (MDD) sectors across Europe.
