Parodontax is a specialized oral care brand with deep roots in German dental history, having been developed in 1937 by Dr. Focke. Originally formulated with a high concentration of sodium bicarbonate to combat gum disease, the brand was initially produced by the German pharmaceutical company Madaus. Over the decades, the brand's ownership shifted through major pharmaceutical acquisitions, first to Block Drug in 1996, and then to GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in 2001.

In 2022, a major strategic move by GSK led to the demerger of its consumer healthcare division into a standalone company named Haleon. Consequently, as of 2026, Parodontax is owned by Haleon, a British multinational headquartered in Weybridge, England. While the brand remains synonymous with its German heritage, its modern manufacturing for the European market, including the 'Complete Protection Extra Frisch' variant, is primarily centralized in Slovakia.
