Videoland is a prominent Dutch streaming service that evolved from a physical retail legacy. Originally established in the Netherlands in 1984 as a chain of video rental stores, it grew to become one of the most recognizable media brands in the country. In the digital age, the brand pivoted from brick-and-mortar rentals to an Over-The-Top (OTT) online video platform, officially launching its streaming service in 2010.

Historically, the brand was built by Dutch entrepreneurs Nico Broersen and Gerard van Stijn through The Entertainment Group. In 2013, RTL Nederland acquired a majority stake in Videoland to compete with international platforms like Netflix. Under RTL's stewardship, it became the leading local streaming service in the Netherlands. In a significant shift for the Dutch media landscape, Belgian media giant DPG Media completed the acquisition of RTL Nederland in early 2025, bringing Videoland under Belgian ownership.

While the service is primarily consumed in the Netherlands, it is legally registered in Luxembourg to align with the regulatory frameworks typical for many European broadcasters. Its digital 'manufacturing'—encompassing software development and content production—occurs across multiple countries, though its heart remains firmly in the Dutch-language market.
