Tempo paper tissues

Tempo is a legendary brand of paper tissues that has become a generic trademark in many parts of Europe, particularly Germany. Originally launched in 1929 by the Vereinigte Papierwerke AG in Nuremberg, Germany, the brand was a pioneer in introducing hygienic, disposable handkerchiefs to the European market. Over decades, it established itself as the market leader known for the strength and softness of its multi-ply paper.

Today, the brand is owned by Essity, a leading global hygiene and health company. While its heritage remains deeply rooted in Germany, manufacturing occurs across various facilities throughout Europe to meet regional demand. The ownership transitioned from its original German founders to Procter & Gamble in the 1990s before being acquired by SCA (Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget) in 2007, from which Essity was eventually spun off as an independent entity.
