Grimbergen beer

Grimbergen is a world-renowned brand of abbey beers that traces its heritage back to 1128, when it was founded by Saint Norbert in the Grimbergen Abbey in Belgium. Despite the abbey being destroyed multiple times throughout history, the brewing tradition has persisted, symbolized by the phoenix on the brand's logo.

Historically, the brand was brewed by Brouwerij Maes (now part of Alken-Maes). Today, the production and ownership are split globally. In most international markets, the brand is owned and brewed by the Carlsberg Group, while within Belgium, its brewing and distribution are managed by Alken-Maes, which is a subsidiary of HEINEKEN. This dual control reflects the complex consolidation of the European brewing industry. The beer is primarily produced in France and Belgium, though manufacturing occurs in various locations depending on regional distribution rights.
