Lätta is a well-known brand of low-fat margarine that was originally launched in Sweden in 1984 by AB Lätta (a part of the Unilever group at the time). The brand was specifically designed to meet the growing demand for lighter alternatives to traditional butter and high-fat margarines. Its colorful logo and association with an active lifestyle made it a staple in Scandinavian and German households.
Today, the brand is owned by Upfield, a global leader in plant-based spreads. Upfield was formed in 2018 when Unilever sold its spreads division to the American investment firm KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. Inc.). While Lätta has deep Swedish roots and remains iconic in the Nordic region, its production is largely centralized in Germany, serving several European markets including Sweden, Germany, and the Netherlands. The product featured is 100% plant-based and palm oil-free, reflecting a modern shift towards sustainable ingredient sourcing.
