Rama is a historic brand of margarine and vegetable spreads that has been a staple in European kitchens for nearly a century. Originally launched in Germany in 1924, it became widely known for its use as a butter alternative for spreading, baking, and cooking. The image shows the modern packaging emphasizing '100% natural ingredients,' reflecting the brand's shift toward plant-based recipes and health-conscious consumer trends.
Historically part of the Anglo-Dutch conglomerate Unilever, Rama underwent a significant ownership change in late 2017. Unilever sold its entire spreads division to the private equity firm KKR, which established a new independent company called Upfield to manage these brands. Today, Rama is produced in various facilities across Europe, with major production hubs in Germany to serve the DACH region, remaining under the global stewardship of Upfield.
