Graasten Thousand Island dressing

Graasten Thousand Island Dressing is a classic condiment produced by Graasten Salater, a brand with deep roots in Danish food culture. The brand was founded in 1947 by Johannes Rasmussen in a former dairy in the town of Gråsten, Denmark. Originally known for its range of 'pålægssalater' (spreadable salads like mackerel and Italian salad), the brand expanded into dressings and sauces, maintaining a reputation for high-quality regional ingredients and traditional recipes.

In 2003, Graasten Salater was acquired by the Norwegian food conglomerate Agra. In 2008, it was merged with Stryhns A/S to form the Stryhns Gruppen, which serves as a major umbrella for several iconic Danish food brands. Today, the Graasten manufacturing facility remains located in Gråsten, South Jutland, where it continues to produce its famous dressings and salads. The ultimate owner, Agra, is a family-owned Norwegian group headquartered in Oslo, specializing in food production across Scandinavia.
