Pringles potato chips

Pringles is an iconic American brand of stackable, potato-based snacks characterized by their unique hyperbolic paraboloid shape and cylindrical canister. Originally invented by Procter & Gamble (P&G) chemist Fredric J. Baur in 1968, the brand was developed to solve consumer complaints about broken and greasy potato chips found in traditional bags. The product was first marketed in 1968 and reached national distribution across the United States by 1975.

In 2012, P&G sold the Pringles business to the Kellogg Company (now known as Kellanova) for $2.695 billion. In a transformative industry shift occurring between late 2024 and 2025, Mars, Incorporated—the family-owned giant behind M&M's and Snickers—finalized its acquisition of Kellanova for approximately $35.9 billion. This deal officially brought Pringles under the Mars Snacking umbrella, positioning it as a key pillar in their global portfolio.

While the brand originated in the United States, Pringles are manufactured at various high-capacity facilities around the world to serve local markets. For the European market, production is primarily concentrated in Mechelen, Belgium, and Kutno, Poland, following significant capital investments to upgrade these sites for sustainability and increased output.
