Pringles is an internationally recognized brand of stackable potato-based crisps known for its unique hyperbolic paraboloid shape and cylindrical canister packaging. The product was originally developed by Procter & Gamble (P&G) in the United States during the 1960s to address consumer complaints about broken chips and air in bags. The brand's distinctive mascot, Julius Pringles, and the uniform look of the crisps helped it become a global powerhouse in the snack food industry.
In 2012, the Pringles brand underwent a major ownership shift when it was acquired by the Kellogg Company from Procter & Gamble in a multi-billion dollar deal. Following a significant corporate restructuring in 2023, the brand became part of Kellanova, a spin-off company focused on global snacks. However, in one of the largest acquisitions in consumer goods history, Mars, Incorporated reached an agreement to acquire Kellanova in late 2024, bringing Pringles under the same umbrella as iconic brands like M&M's and Snickers.
Manufacturing of Pringles is a global operation to satisfy demand across different continents. Major production facilities are located in Jackson, Tennessee (USA), Mechelen (Belgium), Kutno (Poland), Johor (Malaysia), and Fujian (China). This decentralized manufacturing strategy allows the brand to maintain its presence as a leader in the global savory snack market while optimizing regional distribution.
