Clipper is an iconic brand of refillable lighters founded in Barcelona, Spain, in 1959 by Flamagas S.A. The classic cylindrical shape, which has become a world-renowned design icon, was created by the Spanish designer Enric Sardà in 1970. The brand launched the world's first refillable plastic lighter in 1972, revolutionizing the market with a focus on durability and reusability.

Production of Clipper lighters takes place in several strategic locations to meet global demand. While the primary factory remains in Barcelona (Llinars del Vallès), the company also operates manufacturing facilities in Chennai (India) and Shanghai (China). This multi-country production strategy allows them to distribute hundreds of millions of units annually across more than 130 countries.

The brand is owned by Flamagas S.A., which itself is a subsidiary of the Exea Corporation, a major Spanish holding company owned by the Puig family. The Puig family is internationally famous for their luxury fashion and fragrance empire, including brands like Carolina Herrera and Paco Rabanne. In Portugal, the brand is distributed through Flamagas Portugal Lda., ensuring a strong local presence.
