After Eight is a prestigious brand of mint-flavored chocolate thins, celebrated for its 'after-dinner' association. Created in 1962 by Brian Sollitt at the British confectionery company Rowntree & Company Limited, the product quickly became an icon of British culture, known for its distinctive dark green packaging and signature individual envelopes.
In 1988, the Swiss multinational Nestlé acquired Rowntree, bringing After Eight into its global portfolio. While originally manufactured in York and later Castleford in the UK, production for the European and global markets has increasingly shifted to Nestlé's major production hubs, notably in Hamburg, Germany, and Halifax, UK. Today, the brand remains under the ultimate ownership of Nestlé S.A., maintaining its status as one of the world's most recognizable mint chocolate treats.
