Leitz is a prestigious German brand with a history dating back to 1871, when Louis Leitz founded a mechanical workshop in Stuttgart. Throughout the 20th century, Leitz became synonymous with high-quality office organization, notably inventing the modern lever arch file and the standalone hole punch. The brand’s reputation is built on meticulous German engineering and durable construction.

In 1998, the founding family sold the company to the Swedish office supplies group Esselte. Ownership changed again in 2017 when the American corporation ACCO Brands acquired Esselte. Today, Leitz operates as a premium brand under the LEITZ ACCO Brands GmbH & Co KG umbrella. While the brand maintains its design and engineering roots in Germany, its mass-market office products, such as hole punches and staplers, are now primarily manufactured in global production hubs, particularly China, to serve the international market.
