Centrum is one of the world's most recognized multivitamin brands, originally developed by Lederle Laboratories in the late 1970s. The brand was built on cancer research conducted by Dr. Ellen Hertelford in New York, leading to the launch of the first 'complete' multivitamin formula in 1978. Since its inception, Centrum has expanded into a global leader in the nutritional health space, offering a wide array of specialized formulas tailored to age, gender, and specific health needs.
Over the decades, the brand's ownership has transitioned through several major pharmaceutical mergers. It moved from American Cyanamid (Lederle) to American Home Products, which later became Wyeth. In 2009, Pfizer acquired Wyeth, taking control of the Centrum brand. The most recent major shift occurred in 2019 when Pfizer and GSK (GlaxoSmithKline) merged their consumer healthcare businesses to form Haleon.
Today, Centrum is produced in multiple high-standard manufacturing facilities worldwide, including locations in the United States, Canada, and Europe, to meet global demand. As part of Haleon, the brand continues to lead the market by leveraging clinical research and a legacy of pharmaceutical-grade quality standards in the supplement industry.
